Wings
Over the Rockies Hawaiian Style SEPTEMBER 2000 The staff of Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum held a picnic on Saturday, August 19, for their volunteers, in appreciation of their efforts. It was a festive event with a Hawaiian theme. Close to 100 people attended and enjoyed the customary summer picnic cuisine of hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cake, and ice cream, during which they were also treated to a flyover. Even the weather cooperated with a rather cool day. Colossal thanks are due to staff members Marilyn Taylor, marketing and public relations; Janna Hebel, administrator and deputy director; Charlotte Schmidt, development director; and Linda Gross, accountant and administrative assistant. Even during the picnic, which they enjoyed themselves, they were working tirelessly to ensure that participants were catered to. In attendance also were Dan Pedersen, president; Barney Carlson, chairman; Carl Williams, former chairman; Paul Gilmore, operations; Commander Bob Benton of the U.S. Navy Reserves; Chief Thomas Whiteley, U.S. Navy Reserves; former Attorney General (State of Colorado) Duane Woodard; and Andy Parks and his distinguished father, Dr. Jim Parks.
